What Can I Use Instead of Sunscreen?

It is no secret that the sun can be very hard on your skin if you don’t take the proper steps to protect it.  With that being said, you may feel that if you simply slather on some sunscreen that you purchased at the local market, you will be good to go, and everything is great.  Unfortunately, that is not going to be true at all, as those store-bought sunscreens are actually going to be packed full of different chemicals and other substances that your skin is not necessarily going to be fond of.  With that being said, here are some all-natural sunscreens that you can use in order to protect yourself from the harsh rays of the sun.

Your Clothes are the Best Sunblock Ever

There is no arguing with the fact that your clothes are actually going to be the best version of sunblock that you can find, anywhere.  They are not only going to absorb any sunlight, but they are also going to reflect that same sunlight, essentially keeping your skin safe.  What this means, is that after you have had your initial amount of sun exposure (which it is only recommended that you have 20 minutes at a time), you should put on some of your clothes.  Be sure that you select clothes that are white, as they are going to reflect much more light than the darker colored clothes, even being able to keep you much cooler during the summer months.

Eat Better

When you make foods that are high in healthy fats and antioxidants, it is going to help to protect your skin from getting damaged in the sun, that including UV damage as well.  What this means, is that when you are planning out your next meal, you are going to want to make sure that you include some dark, colorful fruits and veggies, as these are going to contain powerful antioxidants such as carotenoids.

You are also going to want to make sure that you incorporate seeds, nuts, avocados, coconut oil, microalgae and sea vegetables into your daily diet as well.  These are going to contain the best omega fatty acids, as well as some very healthy saturated fats.  These foods are going to give your skin a very healthy-looking bronze glow without having to ever step into the sunlight, meaning that you will no longer have to worry about that wicked sunburn you get after falling asleep on the beach.

Use Red Raspberry Seed Oil

If you are looking for the best seed-oil sunscreen, look no further.  Red raspberry seed oil is considered one of the best ways that you can protect your skin from the sun, working at an average rate of roughly 28-50 SPF, as well as blocking out the very troublesome UVB rays at the very same time.

Try Carrot Seed Oil

While this is going to be an oil that may be a little bit tougher to find, once you do you will absolutely love it.  With an SPF of 38-40, it is also going to be packed full of different carotenoid, which are an antioxidant that is going to be great for your skin.

Check Out Wheat Germ Oil

Not only is wheat germ oil going to be a naturally moisturizing substance, but it is also going to have an SPF that is equivalent to any SPF 20.  While it is not going to be the highest SPF available in regard to natural alternatives to sunscreen, it is going to be enough to help you prevent getting sunburned while still being able to increase your tan.

Use Coconut Oil

There seems to be no end to how beneficial coconut oil can be for you.  As for an alternative to sunscreen, coconut oil is actually able to block out about 20% of the sun’s damaging rays.  What this means, is that you can expect to be in the sun for 20% longer than you normally would before you have to worry about getting sunburned.  While that may not be too much longer, the other benefits that coconut oil will be able to provide you with are going to make you put this option at the top of your alternative to sunblock list.

For example, coconut oil is a great moisturizer, it will help to lessen any type of inflammation you may be experiencing, and it will even help to smooth out any blemishes that you are dealing with.  Plus, it will limit the amount of sun damage that you receive while in the sun.
