Donald Trump and the KKK

Eric Zuesse

Donald Trump’s statement about the KKK and David Duke on 14 February 2000: “Mr. Trump painted a fairly dark picture of the Reform Party in his statement, noting the role of Mr. Buchanan, along with the roles of David Duke, a former leader of the Ku Klux Klan, and Lenora Fulani, the former standard-bearer of the New Alliance Party and an advocate of Marxist-Leninist politics. ‘The Reform Party now includes a Klansman, Mr. Duke, a neo-Nazi, Mr. Buchanan, and a communist, Ms. Fulani,’ he said in his statement. ‘This is not company I wish to keep.’” (New York Times)

Donald Trump’s statement about the KKK and David Duke on 26 February 2016: “I didn’t even know that he endorsed me. David Duke endorsed me? Okay, allright: I disavow.” (The Weekly Standard)

Donald Trump’s statement about the KKK and David Duke on 28 February 2016:

Will you unequivocally condemn David Duke and say that you don’t want his vote or that of other white supremacists in this election?

TRUMP: Well, just so you understand, I don’t know anything about David Duke. OK? I don’t know anything about what you’re even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists. So, I don’t know. I don’t know, did he endorse me or what’s going on, because, you know, I know nothing about David Duke. I know nothing about white supremacists. And so you’re asking me a question that I’m supposed to be talking about people that I know nothing about.

TAPPER: But I guess the question from the Anti-Defamation League is, even if you don’t know about their endorsement, there are these groups and individuals endorsing you. Would you just say unequivocally you condemn them and you don’t want their support?

TRUMP: Well, I have to look at the group. I mean, I don’t know what group you’re talking about. You wouldn’t want me to condemn a group that I know nothing about. I would have to look. If you would send me a list of the groups, I will do research on them. And, certainly, I would disavow if I thought there was something wrong.

TAPPER: The Ku Klux Klan?

TRUMP: But you may have groups in there that are totally fine, and it would be very unfair. So, give me a list of the groups, and I will let you know. … I don’t know any — honestly, I don’t know David Duke. I don’t believe I have ever met him. I’m pretty sure I didn’t meet him. And I just don’t know anything about him.

(CNN)

Does he, or doesn’t he — even care? (To most Republicans, it makes no difference, they’re that callous — they care no more than Democrats do about Hillary Clinton’s corruption and “government policies for sale.”)

This is how an oligarchy functions. By the time things have gotten this rotten, democracy has already ended, even if it had previously existed.

The only candidate who’s against all of this is Bernie Sanders — and he was rejected by 74% of SC’s Democrats.

Is America in a terminal condition?

Nice, Eric; thank you. Wow. And yeah, that’s how they roll. I don’t think we’ll have anything better until the demand for arrests of current War Criminals, looters, and liars is real.

      David Duke = government shill
Donald Trump = Zionist shill (Israel first, not America)
Presidential elections = reality show (PRESIDENTS ARE SELECTED, NOT ELECTED)

Apparently, some readers here don’t find bigots — of any type — to be worse than what they dump when they sit on the toilet. Some people are even more repulsive in their head than they are in their bowel. Whew!!

If Trump can relate with Putin in a non-threatening way. I would feel much much safer.

      Whites?
There is no such thing that can be called “white race”
European Americans are in reality the miscegenation of many ethnic groups ranging from Northern Europe, the Urals, Central Asia, the Middle East and Northern Africa; therefore, the color of their skin does not give these people a sense of uniqueness. Moreover, about 70% of modern European Americans can trace their roots to the indigenous peoples of this continent and could fairly be called “White Mestizos “(most of them are very apprehensive -for not saying embarrassed- in accepting this reality).

      Pierre Woodman is right:
      David Duke = government shill
Donald Trump = Zionist shill (Israel first, not America)

Thanks also for proving the following:

Stay cool, bro. This is a cheap drive-by guilt-by-association scumbag play in the “Stop Trump!” hysteria that the Mockingbird MSM is desperately trying to deploy. This is akin to Tapper asking, “Follow-up question — when did you stop beating your wife, Trump?” It’s called a “dirty trick,” Eric, and the entirety of the mainstream media got that talking point this morning from GOP headquarters. Trump just attracted 32,000 people to a football stadium in Alabama. I highly doubt they all showed up because Trump “wavered” on his opportunity to reject David Duke’s “endorsement.” Wouldn’t you agree this was an attempt to neutralize the impact of the Chris Christie endorsement, push it out of the news cycle?

A vote is a vote like a bucks a buck. No one really cares where it comes from as long as it can be counted on and banked on. Majority rule voting systems launder a lot of greasy, grubby origins.

Is there a better way? Of course.

All candidates except two have promised to make the US into a thought-controlled police state for the benefit of a foreign sect. Bernie Sanders is one of them.

    BDS in the Crosshairs

    http://www.counterpunch.org/2016/01/08/bds-in-the-crosshairs/

Most readers will know that the United States has served as the patron of Israel for decades. Why has it done so? The commonly given reasons are suspect. It is not because the two countries have overlapping interests. The U.S. seeks stability in the Middle East (mostly by supporting dictators) and Israel is constantly making things unstable (mostly by practicing ethnic cleansing against Palestinians, illegally colonizing conquered lands and launching massive assaults against its neighbors). Nor, as is often claimed, is the alliance based on “shared Western values.” The U.S. long ago outlawed racial, ethnic and religious discrimination in the public sphere. In Israel, religious-based discrimination is the law. The Zionist state’s values in this regard are the opposite of those of the United States.

So why is it that a project that seeks to pressure Israel to be more cognizant in foreign affairs of regional stability, and more democratic and egalitarian in domestic affairs, is now under fire by almost every presidential candidate standing for the 2016 election?

That project in dispute is BDS, the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, promoted by civil society throughout the Western world. BDS is directed at Israel due to its illegal colonization of the Occupied Territories and its general apartheid-style discrimination against non-Jews in general and Palestinians in particular.

…. Bernie Sanders (Democrat), 20 October 2015: “Sanders’ fraught encounter with BDS supporters who challenged his defense of Israel at a town hall meeting in Cabot [Vermont] last year was captured on YouTube.” Sanders told them to “shut up.”

    The Legitimacy of Boycott

This hostility to the tactic of boycott runs counter to both U.S. legal tradition and the country’s broader historical tradition.

For instance, advocating and practicing BDS can be seen as a constitutionally protected right. It certainly is more obviously protected by the First Amendment’s guarantee of free speech than is the use of money to buy elections. Thus, if Zionist lobbyists can use money to buy support for Israel, why can’t anti-Zionists use their free speech rights to challenge that support?…..

      Strangling the Israel Boycott consortium

      https://consortiumnews.com/2016/02/17/strangling-the-israel-boycott/

Brushing aside the free-speech rights of Americans, Sen. Mark Kirk and other members of the U.S. Congress are pushing Zionist-demanded legislation to stifle a boycott movement aimed at pressuring Israel to stop oppressing Palestinians …. – an attempt by the U.S. Congress to support the attacks on the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement already taking place in some states and municipalities. – an attempt wherein the investment of any state funds, including pension funds, in any business or organization that boycotts the Zionist state is forbidden. ….

… these members of Congress are engaged in paying back their Zionist benefactors who have facilitated money and other forms of election assistance by doing what the patrons want on Israel-Palestine. Sadly, this is the way the U.S. campaign system works.

… are Senators Kirk and Manchin and Representatives Dold and Vargas aware that the Israeli legislature recently voted down a bill to include the principle of equality among citizens in the country’s “Basic Law” ?. … That did not matter to a majority of the Knesset who, following inherently discriminatory Zionist ideals, do not believe in equality between Jewish and non-Jewish citizens. Yet to Israel’s supporters in Washington the Zionist state remains a “democracy” …. The indifference of Senators Kirk and Manchin and Representatives Dold and Vargas goes beyond Israel’s flouting of international law. It carries over to these politicians’ own disregard for the U.S. Constitution, which each gentleman has sworn to uphold.

I’m sort of confused here. Every quote printed here show him either outright disavowing Duke or wanting information to research himself (the horror) before making a public statement (you know, like adults should). But then at the end seems to be slamming Trump. On what basis? Because he wants all the information and isn’t going to just take people’s words on things (again, the horror)? Or am I missing something here. On a side note, i have yet to hear anyone ask for Bernie to distance himself from the “Satanists for Bernie” people or Hillary to distance herself from the “I’d Bottom for Hillary” people. So that tells me that being a white nationalist (David Duke) is worse than worshiping Lucifer and sodomy in some people’s eyes.
