Americans Don’t Know that the Rest of the World Views U.S. as Biggest Danger, Rogue State

Noam Chomsky notes:

According to the leading western polling agencies (WIN/Gallup International), the prize for “greatest threat” is won by the United States.  The rest of the world regards it as the gravest threat to world peace by a large margin.  In second place, far below, is Pakistan, its ranking probably inflated by the Indian vote.  Iran is ranked below those two, along with China, Israel, North Korea, and Afghanistan.

Fifteen years ago, the prominent political analyst Samuel Huntington, professor of the science of government at Harvard, warned in the establishment journal Foreign Affairs that for much of the world the U.S. was “becoming the rogue superpower… the single greatest external threat to their societies.” Shortly after, his words were echoed by Robert Jervis, the president of the American Political Science Association: “In the eyes of much of the world, in fact, the prime rogue state today is the United States.” As we have seen, global opinion supports this judgment by a substantial margin.

But Americans don’t know any of that.  We assume the rest of the world loves and respects us, as we are spoon-fed the “World’s Greatest” and “Exceptional Country” pablum from the mainstream media.

Let’s consider determining which employees and what departments and agencies within the “rogue U.S.A.” are primarily engaged in criminal activity.
Once this is determined ‘We the People’ and our elected reps. should proceed with related legislation before the appropriations committees.

It would be easier and faster to name the ones that aren’t which as far as I can tell that would be none of them!

      • mud

        Dear Michelle,
        Are you the actress-Michelle Lee?

        • Jim Mooney

I think she’s the famous pastry chef, Michelle Lee.

    • Jim Mooney

I would say the FDA is the Most corrupt agency. Totally owned by Big Pharma and Monsanto. The BIA and BLM are known to be extremely corrupt. The DOJ, with its “Total Bankster Forgiveness” is certainly corrupt, although they only march to Obama’s tune. There is that agency that is trying to protect consumers from banks, but since it may actually be doing something good, Congress is working hard to defund it ;’)

Oh, I forgot the dept of education – in bed with the banks and collection agencies. Especially fraudulent.

I know someone who just returned from a visit to Nova Scotia and the word is no one said a kind a.word about the USA.

    • Pravda01

What can you say about murderers, thieves, torturers, jailers?

    • Kevin Sinclair

Americans are awesome people, not responsible for everything their government does (Nova Scotian)

      • nomadfiles

to the degree that we vote for it…to the extent that we allow it…yes we are.

        • Kevin Sinclair

The same could be said of every country.

          • nomadfiles

not every country is roaming the globe fomenting war

          • Kevin Sinclair

But many countries do bad things, and we don’t hold the people of North Korea responsible, or the people living in ISIS controlled areas, or Russians, or anyone else for actions taken by governments that are not answerable to the people. This includes the United States, which, let;s face it, is an oligarchy and plutocracy, but not a democracy. The people are good, the government that exists to promote corporate profits and the agenda of the .01 percent are the ones to hold responsible, not some blameless American nobody.

          • nomadfiles

if they’re good let them do good. him who hath free speech hath great responsibility. americans are not blameless

          • DavidMyers

But it is time for American’s who don’t feel our “foreign policy” is fair or benign . . . . . to make it a big issue, because, in essence, if you don’t speak up then you assent or enable. That’s what the citizens failed to perceive (and do) in pre-war Germany which subsequently gave rise to the Third Reich!

          • Chomsky Lover

Well said. Thank you from another blameless nobody who is fed up and disgusted with the American government and Neocapitalism as a whole.

  • Brockland A.T.

Americans aren’t that tuned out; its probably more a case of somewhat aware, don’t care – or afraid to.

Behind mainstream imbecility is sometimes implied threat. Unresolved police abuse, for example, outrages and frightens at once, and the longer it goes without resolution, the more the fear component becomes the message between the lines. Ditto chronic unemployment; no-one wants to endanger a precarious position in the middle class.

Of course, no small number are probably proud of being a global threat as an expression of vicarious empowerment spicing up a powerless life.

    • Michael Meyer

No need to fear that speaking freely will get you fired particularly if you address your
grievances to your representatives in congress.
Prioritizing titillating distractions and political laziness
      are individual behavior choices
that can change in a flash .
Excellent on-line petition services are hard at work seeking signers every day!
Commenting on-line or by telephone to ones elected representatives has never been as easy.
Many deeply concerned citizens choose to be active in demonstrations to gather publicity for their cause[with out accompanying legislative action!] and some consider violence acts as their FIRST choice+ form of political action……!!
before they have sincerely attempted to express their opinion to their representatives
or attended any public meeting !
or having never voted in a Presidential election!
Ralph Nader was on the ballot in THREE Presidential elections.

The “mainstream imbecility” that you’ve described Brockland is the common consciousness
SWITCH that IS NOW flipping……….starting with a simple flip open of the smartphone/phaser.

Dwight Eisenhower on The Military Industrial Complex

In 1957, Eisenhower authorized the establishment of NASA, which led to the space race. Eisenhower forced Israel, the UK, and France to end their invasion of Egypt during the Suez Crisis of 1956, while condemning the Soviet invasion of Hungary during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. In 1958, he sent 15,000 U.S. troops to Lebanon to prevent the pro-Western government from falling to a Nasser-inspired revolution. Near the end of his term, his efforts to set up a summit meeting with the Soviets collapsed because of the U-2 incident. In his January 17, 1961 farewell address to the nation, Eisenhower expressed his concerns about the dangers of corporate control of Congress and massive military spending, especially deficit spending and government contracts to private military manufacturers, and coined the term “Military-Industrial-Congressional Complex”

Just like these facts in this article from February 20, 2015 America Has Been At War 93% of the Time – 222 Out of 239 Years – Since 1776

The U.S. Has Only Been At Peace For 21 Years Total Since Its Birth In 2011, Danios wrote:

Below, I have reproduced a year-by-year timeline of America’s wars, which reveals something quite interesting: since the United States was founded in 1776, she has been at war during 214 out of her 235 calendar years of existence. In other words, there were only 21 calendar years in which the U.S. did not wage any wars.

Is it possible that the factor FEAR is playing a big part if not the biggest part in USA society?

Consequences are IMO “stay covered, do not say anything, do not report anything, do not speak negative about your masters”.

I believe the biggest danger going out from America for the rest of the world to finally have the chance to live in peace as it is now is, that its people are keeping themselves very, very passive and lame. If that changes into more active and pro-active thinking and acting it will change their country and its effect will be tremendous.

Let peace prevail for all of us.

Government controlled US schools from kindergarten to college. Government controlled US media. Government trashing of the US Constitution.

Whoever in America supports US government control over US schools and the media is a threat to the whole world. Of course, Obama supports federal control over both. And he daily trashes the Constitutuon. As did Bush and Clinton, the NSA, the CIA, and the DHS (since Bush).
