Time to retire “rallying point for racists and murderers, the stars and stripes”

Check out Scottish comedian and writer Frankie Boyle’s biting response to the Charleston shooting and related events.  A couple of excerpts:

…white America wants to believe that its racial fault lines only run as deep as the Confederate flag [but] It’s surely worth wondering whether it’s time to retire the flag that has for so long been a rallying point for racists and murderers, the stars and stripes.

.

…not everybody gets behind the US’s view of itself, which is why it is the world’s largest producer of propaganda. … American Sniper … was basically Star Wars from the point of view of one of the stormtroopers… There are many indicators of advanced civilisations, but unthinking hero worship of the military isn’t one of them.

I was completely against the Iraq War but this is stupid because nobody on Tatooine would have shouted with relief and joy if the leader of their planet were captured by the “Empire” and the Iraqis themselves sentenced Saadam to death. The point is, WE LEFT once we believed we had set up a viable political system. We also left the Philippines when asked. As for the Confederate flag, I haven’t seen anybody in any form of media who comprehends what it stands for and since nobody is paying me for this comment I am not putting it here.

    • Robert Barsocchini

This is probably the most uninformed comment I can remember, and the vague defense of the Confederate flag at the end was the icing on the cake 🙂

      • CB1138

Robert you evidently lack comprehension. Please do not plague this otherwise very interesting site further posts.

        • Robert Barsocchini

I know you said you weren’t going to write about it because you’re not getting paid, but maybe by personal request: I’d be interested to hear your interpretation of the meaning of the Confederate flag, which nobody “in any form of media … comprehends”.

cb1138 is here to provoke and change the focus away from mr. boyle’s simple, direct message:

Of course our governments are just trying to protect us from terror. In the same way that someone banging a hornets’ nest with a stick is trying to protect us from hornets. Maybe I’ll even give them the benefit of the doubt and concede that they are just naive do-gooders trying to bring the world peace and stability through the medium of high explosives.

What gets me is that the new dirty word in the west is “radicalisation”, as if radical change wasn’t obviously needed; as if the status quo has any decency, or is even survivable. It’s not actually difficult to see solutions to the US’s problems: children can do it, until we educate them out of it.

Internationally, I propose the radical step of not trying to solve complex political problems with 1,000lb bombs; domestically, I propose they start addressing inequality by paying reparations for slavery. I’m well aware that in a society where war and discrimination are now almost entirely normalised, both options sound like madness.

bots like cb pop up here and at zerohedge, nc, especially when the discussion starts to include a guaranteed income. apparently, this highly logical solution is completely off limits.

people who will benefit from a guaranteed income: cali residents who need to move away from drought, detroit residents who want to re-install wells and get off city water, the victims of 9/11 recovery or superstorm sandy, those caring for a parent with alzheimers or a child with autism, the millions of former members of the middle class.

the bots scream socialism! i say it’s time to reboot and citizens all over the world need a cushion until things come back up again. the status quo is not decent and it is not survivable.

          • CB1138

If you were to spend time interviewing a cross-section of Southerners who are either educated in the South (not farther North than Maryland) and/or are not formally educated but have well-formed opinions nevertheless, you would be able to figure it out. About the analogy to the Empire of Star Wars, there are fruitful analogies to be made, but not the way you or the comedian is making them. Mostly it is the utter ridiculousness of it. A republic undone, not by an evil genius Sith Lord, but by Alfred E. Newman. Then the successor who was supposed to be so smart spends his time in office rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. He is so happy he got all the passengers health insurance regardless of whether they are in 1st class or steerage, but everybody is still on a sinking ship.

          • Robert Barsocchini

Ah okay but none of these educated/well-informed people have written it down because that would be a “form of media”, hence having to interview them myself, correct? Though if your response is any indication, it won’t be easy to get a straight answer.

          • CB1138

I don’t know why I haven’t seen anybody write it down. It’s not the only blind spot society seems to have in its mirror.

          • Robert Barsocchini

Okay, fair enough. Can we pretend this is my first interview, and I’m posing the question to you?

          • CB1138

I’ve already done the interviews of Southerners during graduate school and would publish something myself. This book is relevant to the situation, although it is not an easy read by any means: http://www.amazon.com/Free-World-Mark-E-Brandon/dp/0691015813

Thanks for the reference, and shoot me an email if you publish, or better yet email me the interviews.

          Hon. Horace Greeley:
          Dear Sir.

I have just read yours of the 19th. addressed to myself through the New-York Tribune. If there be in it any statements, or assumptions of fact, which I may know to be erroneous, I do not, now and here, controvert them. If there be in it any inferences which I may believe to be falsely drawn, I do not now and here, argue against them. If there be perceptable in it an impatient and dictatorial tone, I waive it in deference to an old friend, whose heart I have always supposed to be right.

As to the policy I “seem to be pursuing” as you say, I have not meant to leave any one in doubt.

I would save the Union. I would save it the shortest way under the Constitution. The sooner the national authority can be restored; the nearer the Union will be “the Union as it was.” If there be those who would not save the Union, unless they could at the same time save slavery, I do not agree with them. If there be those who would not save the Union unless they could at the same time destroy slavery, I do not agree with them.

MY PARAMOUNT OBJECTIVE IN THIS STRUGGLE IS TO SAVE THE UNION, AND IS NOT TO EITHER SAVE NOR DESTROY SLAVERY. IF I COULD SAVE THE UNION WITHOUT FREEING ANY SLAVE I WOULD DO IT, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that.

WHAT I DO ABOUT SLAVERY, AND THE COLORED RACE, I DO BECAUSE I BELIEVE IT HELPS TO SAVE THE UNION, AND WHAT I FORBEAR, I forbear because I do not believe it would help to save the Union. I shall do less whenever I shall believe what I am doing hurts the cause, and I shall do more whenever I shall believe doing more will help the cause. I shall try to correct errors when shown to be errors; and I shall adopt new views so fast as they shall appear to be true views.

I have here stated my purpose according to my view of official duty; and I intend no modification of my oft-expressed personal wish that all men every where could be free.

          Yours,
          A. Lincoln.

Lincoln was a dictator and a racist and I want his disgraceful memorial to be bulldozed and steamrolled. He was the most corrupt, evil and worst President in U.S. history and he destroyed The Constitution. He was friends with Karl Marx and was idolized by Adolph Hitler. And yet people thought that it was a virtue that Obama said he wanted to be like Lincoln. The irony is beyond Orwellian or Shakespearean.

    Lincoln on equality:

“I have no purpose to introduce political and social equality between the white and black races. There is physical difference between the two which, in my judgment, will probably forever forbid their living together upon the footing of perfect equality, and inasmuch as it becomes a necessity that there must be a difference, I, as well as Judge Douglas, am in favor of the race to which I belong having the superior position.” – Abraham Lincoln

    Lincoln on interracial marriage:

“Our republican system was meant for a homogeneous people. As long as blacks continue to live with the whites they constitute a threat to the national life. Family life may also collapse and the increase of mixed breed bastards may some day challenge the supremacy of the white man.” – Abraham Lincoln

    • Robert Barsocchini

      Revealing quotes.

    • Libertybelle

I am of the opinion that Obama idolizes Lincoln because of Lincoln’s massacre of Americans and not for allegedly freeing the slaves. Obama is good at killing and he said so. Egyptian lawyers have taken him to the world court for murder.

Ultimately, whether tried for it or not, I believe history will prove he was a serial killer and a murderer. Which suits a Democrat just fine.

        P. S. I’m not lionizing or justifying slavery. I’m just stating the facts, what Lincoln said and what our real history tells us when we read it candidly and honestly. Slavery of humans was and is incomprehensibly repugnant and immoral and so was the stated and purposeful genocide of The Indians.

That slavery generalizes too for the same abuse, torturing and eating of animals..

Our nation has a very dark past and I believe it will be incredibly difficult for us to survive our past, present and upcoming future based on a multitude of factors, the biggest one being that fabian socialism has its tentacles all throughout the world. Slavery too has just been updated and perfected for modernity.

The destruction and pollution of our planet is the icing on the cake.

All of the B.S. about The Confederate Flag, LGBT marriage (I’m all for LGBT and polygamous marriage since it simply requires consent from adults and doesn’t violate the non aggression principle or natural law – of course animals and children don’t have the ability to consent to marriage), wars, taxes, etc are all a part of The Hegelian Dialect and it only takes one side to implement it.

        We’re in deep, deep trouble…

        • Thank you, for viewing and commenting. I just folks could do what we do. One can only dream!

I am very aware, and this why I shared these with you for future engagements with those who lack this knowledge. Also I have something else you should know from research of history.

The 14th Amendment Citizenship: Citizen = SLAVE

Prior to the alleged ratification of the 14th Amendment, there was no legal definition of a “citizen of the United States”, as everyone had primary citizenship in one of the several states. The Constitution referred to the sovereign state citizen, and no one else. Those who went to Washington, D.C. or outside the several states were commonly called “citizens of the United States.” In the Constitution for the United States, the term was used to identify state citizens who were eligible under the suffrage laws to hold office, and they were required under the Constitution to have primary allegiance to one of the several states.

“The Gettysburg speech was at once the shortest and the most famous oration in American history. But let us not forget that it is poetry, not logic; beauty, not sense. Think of the argument in it! Put it into the cold words of everyday! The doctrine is simply this: that the Union soldiers who died at Gettysburg sacrificed their lives to the cause of self-determination – “that government of the people, by the people, for the people, should not perish from the earth”. It is difficult to imagine anything more untrue. The Union soldiers in the battle actually fought against self-determination; it was the Confederates who fought for the right of their people to govern themselves.” – H. L. Mencken

The Republicans maintained control over the Federal government for 30 years following the Civil War by “waving the bloody shirt”. This media-induced brouhaha about the Confederate flag is a similar diversionary maneuver with the same purpose in mind: divide and conquer. We all have more important problems to solve.

Because everyone knows that the Stars and Bars are the symbol of ‘southern pride’ and culture… the south seceded because magnolias are better than rhododendrons, and fried chicken is better than apple pie. Men bled and died under the Stars and Bars because gumbo shrimp is better than cod fish. right?… it had nothing to do with defending the institution of chattel slavery and white privilege. RIDICULOUS.
