Congressman and Agricultural Subcommittee Chairman: “Nearly 80 Percent of the Food Produced In the United States Contains Some Kind of GM [Genetically Modified] Product”

It’s Hard to Find Non-GMO Food

We knew that a lot of American crops were genetically modified. For example, we noted last year:

  • The USDA reports that 93% of all soy and 85% of all corn grown in the U.S. is an herbicide-resistant GE variety
  • Similarly, around 93% of all cottonseed oil and more than 90% of all canola oil produced in the U.S. is herbicide-resistant GE

But we didn’t realize how widespread GMO foods have really become …

On Tuesday, the chair of the Subcommittee on Conservation, Energy, and Forestry of the House Committee on Agriculture – Glenn Thompson of Pennsylvania – said in Congressional testimony :

Nearly 80 percent of the food produced in the United States contains some kind of GM product …

Bottom line: It’s difficult to find non-GMO American food … especially since the feds are doing everything they can to keep us in the dark.

  • Thursday, July 23, 2015 These are the U.S. Representatives who voted to ban ‘GMO’ labeling and deny your right to know what you’re eating!

About Genetically Modified Crops in the US According to the USDA U.S. farmers have widely adopted genetically modified crops since they were first introduced in the 1990s. Below is more information about crops that are most often genetically modified.

Corn is the most widely grown grain crop with 332 million metric tons grown annually in the U.S. alone. According to the USDA, 90 percent of that corn is from genetically modified seeds. Farmers started using genetically modified seeds in the mid-90s in order to use fewer pesticides. Genetically modified corn seed is now used in 14 countries. Ingredients that are likely to come from corn crops include sweet corn cornmeal, corn grits, food starch and corn oil, to name a few.

What??? You don’t like eating Roundup?? Boy, the criminal cartel in Washington DC just keeps on giving and giving. Or is it taking and taking?? I’m confused and as well, I’m almost afraid to ask, what’s next??

DON’T ask that question! That and asking the Universe the same question throws things in turmoil…at least that’s what happened to me when I asked? My life went into an almost immediate turmoil…ending great, process hmmm! Just sayin’

My bet would be this article was partially motivated by W’s just having been in France and eaten real food.

  • JMG

What this article doesn’t go into is that GMO, especially corn, is subsidized by our government and that the political class has stock in these companies. The only thing to do is to buy raw foods and cook them yourselves. It’s cheaper and healthier. With the exception of corn which shouldn’t be eaten at all anymore.

      Except corn fritters!

  • amuncat

Your food labels list Red dye #2, Yellow dye #6, palm oil, high fructose corn syrup, etc., giving us a choice as to whether or not a consumer wants it! Question that is never answered: If GMO is harmless and good for us overall, why hide it? Things some may chose to not ingest because they consider unhealthy are there for making the choice! Suddenly, GMO is a dark secret…that’s not harmful and is good for you! LOL

  • Occam’s Razor

That would explain why I’ve eliminated about 80% of the food choices being perpetrated upon us at the “grocery store”. …weaponized food under Agenda 21, lol. No thanks! I like my health and am keeping my health and am avoiding gm, gmo, inorganic, vaguely labeled, and otherwise tainted foods meant to depopulate humans.

  • Several years ago, we were protesting about GMO’s and people were saying we were “tin foil hat conspiracy theorists” and there was no such thing as GMO’s and they never heard of GMO’s.
