Obama: America “Brokered a Deal to Transition Power in Ukraine”

Obama Admits U.S. Role In Ukraine Coup?

President Obama told CNN’s Fareed Zakaria that the U.S.:

Brokered a deal to transition power in Ukraine …

Indeed, the U.S. State Department spent more than $5 billion dollars in pushing Ukraine towards the West.

The U.S. ambassador to Ukraine (Geoffrey Pyatt) and assistant Secretary of State (Victoria Nuland) were also recorded plotting the downfall of the former Ukraine government in a leaked conversation.

Top-level U.S. officials literally handed out cookies to the protesters who overthrew the Ukrainian government.

No wonder even the former U.S. Ambassador to the Soviet Union: and the very hawkish Council on Foreign Relations say that the Ukrainian crisis is the West’s fault, not Putins.

And top Russian, American and Polish voices warn that continued fighting in Ukraine could lead to nuclear war.

  • To this you can add this speech by Oleg Tsarev in the Ukr Rada in November 2013 where he asks for an investigation into the activities of the American embassy and the US Ambassador training Ukrainians for a civil war:

Notice all the radical-right and generally rowdy hooligans from the “you know who” parties disrupting his speech in the background.

Seems only Americans doubt that the US is responsible for the coup and the subsequent carnage in Ukraine- much more culturally acceptable to “blame Russia”.

a bit farther down the rabbit hole you discover that america is a puppet albeit a very muscular one and the ones pulling the strings are european

Silly. I heard the Russian ambassador chose to quote Obama’s statement “out of context” in a specious attempt to deflect criticism.
Here’s Obama’s quote, of which the “statement in question” was liberated:

,“…mister Putin made this decision around Crimea and Ukraine not because of some grand strategy, but essentially because he was caught off balance by protest in the Maidan and Yanukovich then fleeing after we had brokered a deal to transition power in Ukraine…”

Obama’s remarks referred to U.S. efforts to help resolve the crisis in the run-up to a February 21, 2014 deal signed by Yanukovich and what was then Ukraine’s opposition.

For those who don’t remember, its the agreement brokered by EU diplomats, which called for:
    * the creation of a national unity government,
    * a presidential election by December 2014, and
    * a return to an earlier Ukrainian constitution that would have curtailed Yanukovich’s powers.

The United States worked with the Yanukovich government, Ukraine’s opposition and other stakeholders to help this agreement gain acceptance. The effort included not just the United States, but Russian and European government representatives as well. On the day the agreement was signed, both Obama and Putin had spoken via telephone and exchanged views on the need to implement quickly the political agreement reached in Kiev.

Hmm… a bit of a difference between that, and these ridiculous claims.
Seriously, what world leader would actually admit to executing a coup?

Now if Obama had actually said “Yes, we’ve been plotting a coup in Ukraine for some time…”
Okay, then you would HAVE something.

    But he didn’t say that.

This is equivalent to those saying that the United States gave Ukraine $5 billion in support. $5 BILLION?? Well why would we do that if we weren’t paying people off to install our own government there?

But then they forget to mention that it was $5 billion “total”… since 1992.
OOPS… over 20+ years that really isn’t much, and it certainly began long before Obama came into the White House.

I just don’t get why he used the word “power.” That seems very telling. However, I agree with you there was no admitting to any coup. He should have used other words to talk about it, or kept his mouth shut

  • Kathleen Bushman

    Kathleen Bushman I
just can’t seem to keep up to this Administration’s creative use of language,
but I understand that “brokering a deal to transition power” is now
synonymous with “coup”. Damn – I’ve got to devote time to this the way
I would learning a foreign language.

haha I see what you are saying!
