Nobel Prize Winner for Medicine: People Without Symptoms Or Fever May Still Spread Ebola

Is “Conventional Wisdom” All Wrong?

A study in the prestigious journal Lancet published in 2000 found that some people can carry Ebola without showing any symptoms.

The largest study on the current Ebola outbreak – sponsored by the World Health Organization – found that 13% of those infected with Ebola never had a fever.

Today, reports:

Dr. Beutler, an American medical doctor and researcher, won the Nobel Prize for Medicine and Physiology in 2011 for his work researching the cellular subsystem of the body’s overall immune system – the part of it that defends bodies from infection by other organisms, like Ebola.

He is currently the Director of the Center for the Genetics of Host Defense at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas ….

It may not be absolutely true that those without symptoms can’t transmit the disease, because we don’t have the numbers to back that up,” said Beutler, “It could be people develop significant viremia [where viruses enter the bloodstream and gain access to the rest of the body], and become able to transmit the disease before they have a fever, even. People may have said that without symptoms you can’t transmit Ebola. I’m not sure about that being 100 percent true. There’s a lot of variation with viruses.”

In fact, in a study published online in late September by the New England Journal of Medicine and backed by the World Health Organization, 3,343 confirmed and 667 probable cases of Ebola were analyzed, and nearly 13 percent of the time, those infected with Ebola exhibited no fever at all.

Why does he think the CDC would so emphasize Ebola is not communicable in patients without symptoms?

“There’s some imperative to prevent panic among the public,” says Dr. Beutner, “But to be honest, people have not examined that with transmissibility in mind. I don’t completely trust people who’d say that as dogma.”

But how can authorities raise these issues without creating a panic?

Studies show that telling the truth is the best way to prevent panic.

There seems to be a lot of wishful thinking in the government about the nature of Ebola. The party line is that no one can give it to you if they have no symptoms. And there are reports of tests that are accurate and give quick results, but the caveat is that they only show the virus if the carrier is symptomatic. There is an asymptomatic wildcard out there. No way to deal with it! Obama hugging nurse Pham proves nothing. The appointment of a PR flack as Ebola Czar shows the government is managing the perception of the outbreak. It’s not smart to politicize science. But as it stands there is no serious outbreak visible to the public. Air traffic continues more or less normally. Only one US victim has died, all the others have recovered, which means the government has big ju ju. The biggest fear the government has is chaos. Chaos = panic = collapse of globalism. The whole carefully crafted web of global interdependence will fail. So, if they have to suppress awareness of the outbreak by snatching victims away to black sites, that’s what they’ll do. Little Johnny goes for a visit to the school nurse and is never seen again. Quarantine may not work, but alien abduction might, for a while……ha ha…just joking…

  • Better have a good immune system. It’s all about preparedness more than anything else! It’s because some people are prepared, and others are not. If your immune system is working the way it is supposed to, then Ebola, HIV, Bird/Swine and the standard winter Flu will not have much of an effect on you. I make it a point to keep my immune system boosted by taking natural supplements, drinking alkaline water (disease can’t live in an elevated pH body very long.) I regularly take colloidal silver (a natural anti-bacterial and anti-viral agent) and natural zeolite.

What I don’t take or do is vaccines. I’ve had my share over 30 years ago in the Marine Corps and got sick all the time, mostly right after the vaccination! I haven’t seen the inside of a hospital (as a patient) for over 35 years. I worked as a medic too and was exposed to lots of ill people, but rarely got more than a sniffle that lasted a couple days. I do workout and eat organic (non bug sprayed foods) as much as possible.

All very interesting, but even Dr. Beutler admits, ” I’m not sure about that”.

Let’s avoid allowing media and others to shove this at us as yet another germ warfare scare.
It’s been overdone in the past, with Aids, anthrax, flu, etc. We learned from Aids, to take prudent, universal precautions with all, not just some.
    Yes, ebola is horrific.
But it does have limitations, thankfully, which might limit it’s ability to spread, such as climate ranges, overall better nutrition in the USA [despite the usual Standard American Diets too many consume], and better [?] medical care available.
We need to be prudent in sifting information, choosing better what we consume, and stocking appropriately on a regular basis–not just because yet another scare comes down the pike.
Our Preparedness looks something like this:
    1. Consume healthier choices for foods and beverages; stop loading with sugar.
We include seaweeds and keeps to make sure we get plenty of a FULL spectrum of minerals, which help a body do all it’s necessary chemistries—and they’re a very tasty addition to recipes, adding the tasty naturally-sourced “umami” flavor. Seaweeds and kelps, combined with Miso soup broth, also provide a level of safely used protection from radiation most all are exposed to–that was discovered after bombs dropped at Hiroshima: those eating miso with wakame, daily, were more protected from the radiation sickness that affected those who didn’t consume those daily.
    2. Use pure, Sterling Silver [NO plated, NO lesser alloys] utensil to eat with daily:
This builds up silver ions in the body tissues to therapeutic levels after only one month’s time [it’s also aesthetically pleasing], it’s safer than drinking colloidal silver; this has greatly reduced incidence and severity of infections in our family. IF one stops using the utensil daily, it takes about a month for body stores to deplete; it is absolutely reversible, and no one turns blue: Argyria only happens if someone makes their colloidal silver using a higher-nickel allowed silver, and then also uses too much, chronically–but that still vastly decreases infections. We’ve been using silver spoons for decades, safely and satisfactorily, with no adverse effects.
    3. Selenium: Ebola uses selenium, and will strip body-stores, which causes the tissue break-down and bleed-outs. If you have at least 400 mcg.’s daily, it could decrease likelihood of manifesting the infection; take more if infected; the virus uses it, but then there is still enough for the body, and tissues do not break down and bleed out–survival is much increased, and likelihood of gruesome signs and symptoms is reduced or prevented; the body then has a fighting chance at getting rid of the virus.
