A Handful of Constitutionally-Minded People within the Pentagon Stopped the Syrian War

Obama Was Willing to Ignore Massive Opposition to the War

Pulitzer-prize winning investigative reporter Seymour Hersh (who uncovered the Iraq prison torture scandal and the Mai Lai massacre in Vietnam) revealed in the International Business Times that there is more evidence for the Syrian rebels than Assad being the culprits behind the sarin chemical weapons attack in Syria.

This has been known for some time.

What’s new is that Hersh says that the main reason Obama backed down from war wasn’t Putin’s brilliant chess move – or even the overwhelming opposition of the American people to war.

Rather, Hersh says that it was strong opposition from a handful of patriotic Americans within the Pentagon which caused Obama to back down:

[Obama] didn’t do it [i.e. pull the plug on war with Syria] because the American people said no.  He [backed down] because he didn’t have a case.  And there was incredible opposition that will be, one of these days, written about, maybe in history books. There was incredible operation [sic] from some very, very strong-minded, constitutionally minded people in the Pentagon. That’s the real story.

He didn’t do it [back down from a war against Syria] because of public opinion. He was willing to flout it, I think.

Indeed, a handful of true Americans within the military have – unknown to civilians – repeatedly stopped military shenanigans.

For example:

  • And military folks might have stopped even crazier things from happening

Similarly – after getting burned for fake Iraq wmd claims – the intelligence agencies refused to lend their names to claims that the Syrian government was behind the chemical weapons attack.

Thank goodness that there are still people who take their oath to the Constitution seriously.

bullshit. where were these ‘constitutionally-minded’ people during the unconstitutional bombing of Libya, or the 2003 Iraq war. where are these ‘constitutionally-minded’ people right now while unconstitutional drone bombings occur, or arrest those who instituted the indefinite detention in the 2012 ndaa. its propaganda to make citizens feel powerless.

    • Ricky Ross

The same place all of the “Constitutionally” minded Sheriff’s across America have been over the last 12 years, while the TSA has violated the 4th Amendment thousands of times each and every day and NOT a single agent has been arrested for doing so!

Oh, back to your question…all of these “Constitutionally” minded people are doing the same thing…following orders to get their pay checks and pensions and they could give a crap about the Constitution or the people that it is supposed to protect!

      • RHLee

Oh for chris’ sake, some of you have no understanding of the Constitution or the power of the military or county sheriffs. When you spout this crap all you do is ruin the credibility of those who DO understand and attempt to effect change Constitutionally. Thanks for helping the enemy, we appreciate it…a-hole.

I do agree 100% with your point that way too many “Constitutionally-minded” officials are more worried about protecting their jobs than upholding their oaths.

        • Ricky Ross

…and everything I spoke was 100% true! Call me names if you like, but it does NOT change the fact of the REALITY that I speak!

Don’t get me started on the military…

But wait, you did. To make it easier for you to understand, since you do not like REALITY, I will post what the most decorated Marine in United States history said about the military…(pay special attention to the last paragraph”.

“War is just a racket. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of people. Only a small inside group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few at the expense of the masses.

I believe in adequate defense at the coastline and nothing else. If a nation comes over here to fight, then we’ll fight. The trouble with America is that when the dollar only earns six percent over here, then it gets restless and goes overseas to get 100 percent. Then the flag follows the dollar and the soldiers follow the flag.

I wouldn’t go to war again as I have done to protect some lousy investment of the bankers. There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes, and the other is the Bill of Rights. War for any other reason is simply a racket.

There isn’t a trick in the racketeering bag that the military gang is blind to. It has its “finger men” to point out enemies, its “muscle men” to destroy enemies, its “brain men” to plan war preparations, and a “Big Boss” Super-Nationalistic-Capitalism.

It may seem off for me, a military man, to adopt such a comparison. Truthfulness compels me to. I spent thirty-three years and four months in active military service as a member of this country’s most agile military force, the Marine Corps. I served in all commissioned ranks from Second Lieutenant to Major-General. And during that period, I spent most of my time being a high-class muscle-man for Big Business, for Wall Street, and for the Bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism.

I suspected I was just part of a racket at the time. Now I am sure of it. Like all the members of the military profession, I never had a thought of my own until I left the service. My mental faculties remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of higher-ups. This is typical with everyone in the military service.”

          – General Smedley Butler, USMC Retired General, Speech in 1933 (The most decorated Marine in USA history)

          • RHLee

I know Butler’s words well, I am a Marine myself…and they have nothing to do with the subject of the Constitutional powers of the military. How about you learn how to think for yourself and actually have an understanding of the issues, rather than blindly parroting things other people say hoping it will make you look smart.

Idiots like you don’t make the jobs of patriots and oath keepers easier, you just muck things up. Get a freakin clue or stay the f out of our way, under the porch with the rest of the pups.

          • Ricky Ross

Um, it’s called learning! You know, reading and listening to what others say is what people do every single day in universities across the globe. Actually, I like it 🙂

…and to quote people that are well respected is not to say that I do not have my own thoughts, as I do, but I have found when trying to communicate with others who have comprehension issues, quoting well respected people seems to get through better…well, usually!

            Congratulations, you are the exception!

By the way, the last paragraph has everything to do with what is being said in this forum and it has everything to do with our military NOT doing anything for the last 12 years except following unconstitutional orders!!!

            P.S. READ THIS PART AGAIN!

“Like all the members of the military profession, I never had a thought
of my own until I left the service. My mental faculties remained in
suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of higher-ups. This is
typical with everyone in the military service.”

By the way, I am a US Army Veteran of 6 years, but unlike you and many others, I am not blinded by false Patriotism, which means I actually do think for myself!

          • Ricky Ross

Come on, let’s face REALITY! If our troops were actually fighting for our FREEDOM and LIBERTIES, they would be fighting the only entity that is TRULY USURPING and JEOPARDIZING our FREEDOMS and LIBERTIES >>> the U.S. Government! ILLEGALLY occupying sovereign nations that have done NOTHING to the U.S.A. is NOT fighting and dieing for our FREEDOMS and LIBERTIES!

Simply, it is as Smedley Butler said …

“Like all the members of the military profession, I never had a thought of my own until I left the service. My mental faculties remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of higher-ups. This is typical with everyone in the military service.”

    • RHLee

Constitutionally-minded people work through the framework of the Constitution…otherwise they aren’t so Constitutionally-minded. Show me where the Constitution gives the Pentagon or the Military the power to arrest their civilian masters.

      • max

All officers take an oath to protect the country from enemies of the constitution, both foreign and domestic. Domestically we have an illegitimate, criminal cabal running the U.S. government as a control fraud for private gain (read looting economy). Obama is just a figurehead (and knows it).

Unfortunately antiPatriots have taken over the Pentagon and shamed us all by running a woman and baby killing machine (drone warfare), night terror raids (by out of control JSOC), plus the general led, pepping tom, unconstitutional, criminal NSA enslavement machine run by Israel-firster traitor lackeys.

The military is corrupt, immoral and shameless. They are not going to ‘ride over the hill’ and save us. We The People will have to do it.

        • RHLee

The military does not have the Constitutional power to save us. We have to save ourselves indeed…unfortunately way too many sheeple, and their little poodles in Congress think things are fine and dandy

      • empty

de facto, and technically in some cases, since laws have been passed which follow an agenda, are widely considered, and are even admittedly against the constitution, they have already declared themselves enemies, putting them within the the militarys and other law enforcements jurisdiction

  • dontbelieveit

How come these ‘constitutionally-minded’ folk haven’t closed the NSA and arrested General Alexander and Inglis? How come they haven’t arrested all BPD, FBI and Craft mercs involved in Boston false flag? How come they haven’t taken over the Newtown hoax/false flag investigation?

    • Trace Smith

I want to know the same thing. This guy Obama needs to be impeached now w/ most of Washington going w/ him!!!

  • sliide

Well commentators, a full scale invasion in the face of Putin is really of a higher magnitude than the rest of the Treason going on.

We can pray Syria is the Straw that broke the Pentagon’s back

  • sliide

Just doing what he is told, like a good guy Nazi Hersh alludes to.

  • Concerned Citizen

When will these strong Constitutionally minded folks put an end to Obama’s unConstitutional shenanigans? One can only hope.

    • RHLee

Constitutionally, that would be up to Congress, not the Pentagon.

      • Fullblad

If America had a constitution that wasn’t in whole or part suspended. Under the “Continuity of Government Act” declared to be in force by Cheney in the White House bunker on the morning of 9/11/2001 during the national “emergency”, and re invoked each six monthe since then, the great American Constitution is suspended. Whether in whole or which parts is unknown.

  • hershsafraud

Hersh, the limited hangout specialist – Abu Ghraib, so terrible, so terrible, gosh darn I saw the pics but I just can’t get them to publish. What a fraud.

The Pentagon is already running Obama through the Israeli linked blackmail machine the NSA, now the rogue unconstitutional generals are trying to incite calls for a coup? Cynical. Machiavellian.

  • Douglas Hotchkiss

are they still employed there or have the hawks eaten them?

I wonder if these constitutional believers are Karen Hudes “white hats”? I also wonder where a Chuck Hagel sits, with or against the good people of America and the American Constitution?

  • mthammer

We need to have an American Revolution like we had back in the 1700’s , The American Government and the people in Washington DC has lied and spyed on us for the last time . We need especially us Military Veterans to make a move on Washington , the politicians and the Pentagon , are collecting info on everybody , they have no authority , no court authorized the NSA to criminally go through other people’s information . They have overstepped their authority , don’t they realize that there are quite a few taxpayers and citizens who have munitions , guns , numbers in the millions and their is no one in Washington , whether it be the active military , local police , CIA, or FBI will be able to stop us. They literally think that they can pull, the wool over the taxpayers and citizens eyes anymore especially when you have a liberal Democrat running the show . In a year when Obama is gone , he won’t be able to think that the American people will forget what he has done to this country .
