4 Questions for Supporters of a Strike Against Syria

Simple Context Questions

Ask anyone still thinking of supporting an attack on Syria to explain why the U.S. started supporting the Syrian opposition years before any uprising had occurred there.

And ask them to explain why 4-Star General Wesley Clark was told – right after 9/11 – that Pentagon officials planned to attack 7 countries in 5 years … including Iraq, Libya and Syria:

I had been through the Pentagon right after 9/11. About ten days after 9/11, I went through the Pentagon and I saw Secretary Rumsfeld and Deputy Secretary Wolfowitz. I went downstairs just to say hello to some of the people on the Joint Staff who used to work for me, and one of the generals called me in. He said, “Sir, you’ve got to come in and talk to me a second.” I said, “Well, you’re too busy.” He said, “No, no.” He says, “We’ve made the decision we’re going to war with Iraq.” This was on or about the 20th of September.

So I came back to see him a few weeks later, and by that time we were bombing in Afghanistan. I said, “Are we still going to war with Iraq?” And he said, “Oh, it’s worse than that.” He reached over on his desk. He picked up a piece of paper. And he said, “I just got this down from upstairs” — meaning the Secretary of Defense’s office — “today.” And he said, “This is a memo that describes how we’re going to take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and, finishing off, Iran.”

And ask them why this planning of regime change in Syria and 6 other countries started by 1991 at the latest:

It came back to me … a 1991 meeting I had with Paul Wolfowitz.

In 1991, he was the Undersecretary of Defense for Policy – the number 3 position at the Pentagon. And I had gone to see him when I was a 1-Star General commanding the National Training Center.

And I said, “Mr. Secretary, you must be pretty happy with the performance of the troops in Desert Storm.”

And he said: “Yeah, but not really, because the truth is we should have gotten rid of Saddam Hussein, and we didn’t … But one thing we did learn [from the Persian Gulf War] is that we can use our military in the region – in the Middle East – and the Soviets won’t stop us. And we’ve got about 5 or 10 years to clean up those old Soviet client regimes – Syria, Iran, Iraq – before the next great superpower comes on to challenge us.”

(Skip to 3:07 in the following video)

And ask them why the US and British governments considered using a false flag attack 50 years ago to topple the Syrian regime.

There are many other good questions as well, such as:

  • Why attack when Congress members who have seen the classified intelligence aren’t even convinced that the Syrian government used chemical weapons?
  • Why attack when the attack itself would be a larger war crime even than chemical weapons use (here, here and here)?

Thank you for bringing sanity and clarity to this most crucial of moments. We must wake up and take back the US POLICY as it pertains to our interactions with the rest of the world before we have become the instigator to the next world war.

    • Tonto

Sanity and clarity? Wow. I think everyone is howling at the wind. And there is plenty of wind to go around, yet still.

I think the reality we are witnessing here is that, there are still plenty of people in this country who approve of expansively smashing anyone not working within the dollar-dominant oil-banking system. It used to be called, western expansionism. But now it is called, empire. It’s the same thing. Americans approve of it.

And many more people still, approve of expanding Israel’s undefined borders with U.S. military might. The notion that the “Israelites” are God’s chosen people, who have God-expressed rights to all land they want to conquer, is pervasive among fundamentalist Christians. “It’s in the Bible,” is the commonly offered proof. Say no more! The common American view of the world is incredibly xenophobic, and probably worse than at any period ever in world history.

Americans generally believe Syrians are just like Libyans, Iraqis and Iranians or Persians or Somalis or Yemenis. Most Americans don’t care what you call these people. As far as most Americans are concerned, these people are not really human. They are heathen.

And not many of Americans really care about the chemical weapons used in Syria. That’s just a wide-eyed freak-show for the faithful, to show them just how really inhuman these Arab barbarians are. Americans see how barbarian these people are in the movies made in Hollywood. Who cares who used these chemical weapons? THEY did it. That’s all that matters. The cannibals are using chemical weapons, is the message.

Jews on the other hand, well they’re in the Bible. And while we don’t hear much about it now, even Barack Obama made a few token appearances at some Bible thumping church when he was first elected. The religious right dominates the White House as never before.

      • James

In case you haven’t heard – most Americans aren’t religious anymore.

And so your assertion that “most Americans” believe whatever the bible says just as ludicrous as the assertion that “most Americans” have an opinion about Israel.

Perhaps in the mind of the misinformationalist, those types of generalizations are convenient or necessary, but further spreading those ideas only makes one seem ignorant.

I would assert that “most Americans” want the truth and want our country to be what they previously believed it to be – “honest” and “free” and prosperous. And they want Congress and the President to behave in a way that is consistent with those qualities.

However wave after wave of lies and propaganda around unnecessary wars have made the American public skeptical – and now they have reached the point where they are downright belligerent.

When McShame is berated by a Marine and has to run out of a town-hall meeting because the elderly crowd turns on him, you know the people have had enough. When hundreds of military men and women openly express their unwillingness to serve in contrived wars – then you know you’ve reached the limit.

        • Tonto

          Limit? Reached a limit?

There is no limit to the gullibility of the American people. They bought the whole 9-11 false flag, hook, line and sinker.

When the cruise missiles start hitting their targets in Syria, I want you to know, I am talking about people like you too, people that think their voice means something in this country. They are clearly yet another delusional minority.

You forget, 95% of the American public was against TARP too. Did TARP (free money for the banks, U.S. banks and foreign banks too) happen in the face of those public opinion odds. Sure it did. And the banks are still getting free money in almost innumerable ways.

You also underestimate the righteous indignation of the of the religious right. There are more religious nuts today in the U.S. than there were a half century ago. How many kids out their have crosses tattooed on body somewhere? Plenty of them do. They wear crosses pierced in their ears and foreheads too. They wear crosses with an image of Jesus nailed upon it on chains around their necks. The put signs out in front of their homes citing Biblical scripture. They are sure people like you and me are going to live an eternity in Hell and damnation.

Think what that cross represents. It represents the crucifixion of their savior, and Jew who died (at 33) some 2000 years ago crucified on a cross in Israel. The whole notion of the crusades has never died for a majority of the American people. All this, for them, was predicted in the Bible. They are most interested in salvation, to be united in glory, in heaven with their savior, Christ.

They aren’t concerned at all about Fukushima, banker fascism or bombing innocent men woman and children in Syria, Libya or anywhere else in the Middle East. For them, this is all prophesied in the Bible, a compilation of gibberish borrowed from a thousand stories told in pre-history.

For these Christians, this is a crusade against the infidel, the heathen, and the barbarians who do not understand that Christ is the son of God and the Jews are God’s chosen people.

I don’t believe it. I think anyone who does believe anything of the sort is the quintessential genocidal bigot. But like yours, my views are clearly in a minority.

The truth is, very rare, and difficult to come by. I am only writing this, because it is what I see as the most likely truth. Neither you nor I can wish the truth into being. I see the truth is likely that, Syria is going to be bombed back into the Stone Age, just like Libya and Iraq.

And neither the American people, nor Russia nor the Chinese are going to do anything about it.

      • William Burke

I don’t think this is about oil. Not really. I don’t think it’s about Syria, or Iran.

I think this is about RUSSIA.

        • Tonto

You think this is about Russia? That’s only because you haven’t fathomed the great deal Yeltsin cut, and into which Putin slipped himself effortlessly. Putin is a great man. Russia is in a wealthy Renaissance thanks to the deal Russia has with the U.S.

And witness, things have not been better in Russia in literally -a thousand years-. You can’t honestly think anyone in Russia is going to risk messing that up, can you?

Russia is the best, most loyal friend the U.S. will ever have. All the Russian growling is just an act requested by the CIA. Its an act meant to encourage the Chinese to step offside, so they can have their asses handed to them.

The Chinese are not so stupid though. They know what that recent defense satellite is that was just sent up. Heaviest payload over…. You go figure it out on your own.

The Chinese would give anything to be in Russia’s shoes. And the Chinese are trying very hard to find a similar deal with the U.S. But the Chinese made the mistake of laughing at Geithner. That was a big mistake when it occurred.

Shame on the Chinese. Only Americans can laugh at Geithner.

The Chinese are choking on their own success, which has turned sour due to excess leverage and debt, while still way more than half the Chinese people are violently demanding vast improvements in their standard of living. Those improvements are not going to happen. So, you can all forget about China running the world.

          • William Burke

What a load of Bullocks. The CIA has been out to destroy Russia since before the CIA first opened its doors.

          • Tonto

The CIA did destroy the USSR. That was why Yeltsin came begging.

And everyone got exactly what they wanted out of the deal that was cut.

You just watch. First watch the YouTube link of Putin singing Blueberry Hill to a bunch of Americans in Russia. And then sit back as this well planned human catastrophe unfolds in Syria. Russia will be completely idle, as they were while Libya was dismantled. China too will sit back and just watch.

Syria is doomed. And Iran will be further isolated.

In the scuffle, Israel is going to move their border again, significantly, and not just further into Syrian territory.

All the alternative media wrangling will come up for naught. Those who write for the alternative media are delusional about what is going on right now.

Go over to Rivero’s site. He’s having a nervous breakdown right now watching what is happening. The IRS is after him, and his years of work have all proven for next to naught.

Hell, half the alternative media are stooges. The rest of the writers are delusional ideologues bent on communism and capitalist overthrow. There’s an article right now on Bloomberg accusing all the Libertarians of being closet communists. Nothing is as it seems.

And you think you have it all figured out? You just watch what happens. The U.S. has never been more powerful. And Obama is a nobody, just an actor chosen by the CIA for his skill at lying.

Mark these words. The deal as it unfolds will make what I am saying wholly obvious, -if I am right. If you are right, then WW III is going to happen real soon now. LoL You think Russia will start WW III? Not a chance.

          • William Burke

What I think – tonight – and I don’t know how this will really shake out – is that Congress will contrive to NOT vote on the issue, so as to not humiliate Obama.
Will he do it anyway, with calls and emails running roughly 500 to 1 against? I’m not sure, but I have the feeling some Pentagon brass has drawn a pretty clear line against the insanity. They have grandchildren to think of too. And some of them realize when the dust settles, they’ll no longer be needed.

Michael Rivero? He’s been unstable for several years now. HELL, how can I blame him?

          • BeckyMundt

Fuck me, so what all of you are so clear about saying is that there
are no sane, moral, honorable, nondelusional people left in this nation?
So, if we are presented with the evidence that our national policy has
been illegally overthrown by war mngering heads of multinational
corporations in search of profits then we will all just get so caught up
in our ‘religious beliefs’ and delusions that we will destroy ourselves
rather than wake up to what we are doing?

I know too many bright and
intelligent people (especially young people) to believe this. I think
you are proud of yourselves for having found a a way to tell yourselves
that you know it all and that it all is going to go to complete shit
with the US becoming the next evil empire and there is nothing anyone
can do to stop it. Okay, fine, have it your way, it seems that what you
want is to be right about how we are doomed rather than to do fuck all
about it. Good on you. You’re so damned clever! You get the nobel prize
for being completely useless pieces of shit who know it all and do
nothing because you are too damned smart to waste your time trying to
change it! I don’t buy it.

I don’t believe most Americans believe in
fundamental religion. I think most of them believe in very little and at
some point their disgust will rise up into a new creative energy they
are only now discovering they have to thwart violence with creative non
compliance. And when that happens the world changes. You speak from the
place of dead stone, not enlivened conscious awareness.

            But then you are
probably married to the dead constructs of materialist science too and think that the only
reality is the one you can see touch taste smell and feel having not one clue
about the truth of the Idea Construct as the Creator of Universes. You
actually think that the physical world is all there is and that the only
other explanation is some religious dogma you don’t agree with. you’ve
never even explored your own inner psyche! Holy Shit.

            Well, condemn
yourselves and the rest of the world, as that seems to be your choice, but I am not going with you
and I am going to do everything in my power to keep putting out and agreeing
with the actual events and facts which have led us here to being made
more public and more visible until everyone can see them and finds
themselves willing to make new choices and take new actions. But hey,
you go ahead, marry the old paradigm of power and corruption and
enslavement. Watch the people of the world die for no good reason and
call yourselves right – that makes so much fucking sense. Doesn’t it? So
glad you could be right about it all.

          • Tonto

“I know too many bright and intelligent people (especially young people) to believe this.”

Wow. I have not met enough -educated- young people in the last ten years to make a baseball team. Young people today think they bare born educated.

They don’t read books, because they don’t have to. They cruise the net. They think they’re too intelligent to have to do anything more than chew their cud and extrapolate Libertarian ideological nonsense to understand the world. None too few read Howard Zinn’s comic book for a history lesson.

Heroin, synthetic and otherwise, is the drug of choice among young people today. What does that tell you?

What you obviously don’t understand is that the world of human beings is probably best likened to an open-air superbowl stadium into which the world’s rats and crocodiles have been poured, into a seething, boiling stew of madness and carnage.

There is no-place in this world for your sort of altruism.

          • Tonto

All everyone in Congress is looking to do is to cover their own ass. Most have not even committed. Can you imagine? Our supposed Congressional LEADERS are afraid to commit? What? Is the issue undecided in their heads? LoL

The only thing that is required, if even this is required, is to invent another phony atrocity supposedly committed by Assad, and the cruise missiles will be launched on that queue, the boots will be on the ground, and Israel will be claiming more Syrian territory as their God given right. From their pulpits American religious leaders will be praising the events as having been written in scripture. Even Obama will allude to the religiosity in another one of his speeches, perhaps the State of the Union. Praise the Lord!

And even Iran will sit idly by, fretting about what is coming their way. They’re not going to do anything but quake in their beds at night.

Reality is infinitely complex. And the backers of this war know exactly how to stage events to get this thing in Syria off the ground. Truth has nothing to do with what will come to pass. All our governments are run by bureaucracies. And the people, fools that they are, vote for the “leaders” who keep these bureaucracies well fed, because that’s what gets them re-elected.

How does that societal mechanism allow for any consideration of the truth? Not one of these slimeballs cares what the truth is. All they care about is wealth and fame. That is what has become of all the checks and balances. The variable determinants are all about wealth and fame.

And while this war won’t turn the economy around, it will make a lot of people connected with the government much richer. It will even spread around a little fame for the conquering heroes that subdue a helpless and abandoned Syria.

Some of those puss-balls will run for Congress, and get elected waving the flag.

            Sound familiar?

Sanity and Clarity………435 Tweets to Congress: Impeach Obama for Aiding al Qaeda in Syria ….

Although some have presented 100 potential reasons that Barack Obama could be impeached right now under the Constitution of the United States of America, most recently he has violated Article
    III, Section 3, Clause 1:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

  • Washington76

“In the end, more than freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all – security, comfort, and freedom. When the Athenians finally wanted not to give to society but for society to give to them, when the freedom they wished for most was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free and was never free again.”- Edward Gibbon (1737-1794) Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire

    • William Burke

One of my favorite quotes. It just shows how little things have really changed.

      • Washington76

        Yep, thanks’ WB!

  • FredJ11

You forgot the obvious questions- Why attack Syria (or any other country) when a) their internal affairs are none of our business and b) the affairs of that region are none of our business and c) when Syria poses no threat to us at all?

  • The obvious ignoring press

Have you not been paying attention? The Christians support Assad in Syria; the Muslim rebels are taking advantage of the war to attack Christian churches. It is Suni against Sheite Muslims, with Christians on the defensive, of course President Obama would want to be involved. He is on the side that attacks Christians.

Central banking and petrodollar. The countries on the list are those left in which the federal criminal banking cartel and parasite banking families don’t have under their control yet..
