What Obama’s Nominations Mean: The Military Is Being Downsized … But Covert Operations Are Gearing Up

The CIA Is Taking Over the Dirty Work in Fighting America’s Wars

Obama has nominated a veteran – not a chickenhawk – to serve as Secretary of Defense.  The Washington Post reports that Chuck Hagel:

… was deputy director of the Veterans Administration during the Reagan administration and later served as president of the United Service Organizations.

U.S. News and World Report notes:

The Vietnam War veteran and the recipient of the purple heart, Hagel would be the first enlisted soldier in the military to rise to the ranks of defense secretary.

Indeed, while all of the neocon warmongers are chickenhawks who dodged service to their country, many veterans and active-duty service men are opposed to the endless wars, which only weaken our national security and increase terrorism. See this, this, this, this, this, this and this.

No wonder Hagel is more moderate than those who want to start conflagrations all over the world.

U.S. News and World Report  continues:

While Hagel is a Republican, his views on foreign policy alarm some of his GOP colleagues. During his time in the Senate, Hagel was verbose in his opposition to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, he voted against sanctioning Iran on multiple occasions and has suggested Israel should negotiate with Hamas directly. Republicans and Democrats alike worry he’s not a strong enough friend to Israel …

The Washington Post reports:

Last year, Hagel endorsed a report by the advocacy group Global Zero that called for an 80 percent reduction in the U.S. nuclear-weapons arsenal. Such a cut could save $100 billion over 10 years, the group estimated.

On the other hand, Obama’s nominee for CIA director – John Brennan – endorsed torture, assassination of unidentified strangers without due process, and spying on all Americans. As Glenn Greenwald writes:

Brennan, as a Bush-era CIA official, had expressly endorsed Bush’s programs of torture (other than waterboarding) and rendition and also was a vocal advocate of immunizing lawbreaking telecoms for their role in the illegal Bush NSA eavesdropping program.

Obama then appointed him as his top counter-terrorism adviser…. In that position, Brennan last year got caught outright lying when he claimed Obama’s drone program caused no civilian deaths in Pakistan over the prior year. He also spouted complete though highly influential falsehoods to the world in the immediate aftermath of the Osama bin Laden killing, including claiming that bin Laden “engaged in a firefight” with Navy SEALS and had “used his wife as a human shield”. Brennan has also been in charge of many of Obama’s most controversial and radical policies, including “signature strikes” in Yemen – targeting people without even knowing who they are – and generally seizing the power to determine who will be marked for execution without any due process, oversight or transparency.

What do these two nominations tell us?

That the Obama administration doesn’t plan on fighting as many conventional wars with men in uniform – soldiers, sailors, pilots and marines – but does plan to crank up assassinations, drone strikes and other covert operations worldwide.

    Rumsfeld redux!

CIA is covert information age warfare, Pentagon is Cold War era warfare. The cold war is over.

Our thirst to conquer is not quenched. Its in our blood.

Compare the costs and results of Iraq and Libya. The issue appears to be the money spent, and not the moral question of war. Libya was 1000th the cost of Iraq with better results. Its a natural progression.

They are still fighting in Libya and thousands are dead. Nothing has been settled there. All the U.S. does is cause chaos death and destruction and by the way in case you haven’t noticed this country is broke, deindustrialized and hated around the planet. There is your cost!

Look at Obama and Syria … Obama is conflicted … He wants to see Assad be overthrown by his alQueda and Muslim Brotherhood allies, but he can’t help himself but to admire Assad’s brutal dictatorial tactics.
Obama can hardly wait to employ them here on us … All that’s standing in his way is that he hasn’t been able to disarm us yet.

To quote a few of their heroes, with explanatory comments in ( ):

“Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.” – Mao
(They revere Mao and the way he ruthlessly grabbed power in China. The fact that he murdered about 100 million Chinese to do it is, to them, a “feature,” not a “bug.”)

“If the opposition disarms, well and good. If it refuses to disarm, we shall disarm it ourselves. … The only real power comes out of a long rifle. … Everyone imposes his own system as far as his army can reach. … We don’t let them have ideas. Why would we let them have guns? … The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of millions is a statistic.” — Joseph Stalin

“The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed the To quote a few of their heroes, with explanatory comments in ( ):

(These psychopathic sociopaths in our government – and THEY ARE PRECISELY THAT, never make the mistake of doubting it – believe that they are anointed to be our rulers and that we are the equivalent of Hitler’s “subject races.”)

THOSE are the reasons why, and the sort of people who want to, disarm us.

These same people through DHS and other alphabet agencies have recently purchased over 1.8 BILLION rounds of ammo – enough to shoot every man, woman, and child in the country more than 4 times – ammo that’s illegal for military use under international law. Considering that you and I and all of the other US taxpayers are paying for all of this ammo, it’s frighteningly reminiscent of the story of political prisoners’ families being forced to pay for the bullets used to execute them … isn’t it?

If we allow these leftist control freaks to ignore and ultimately gut the 2nd Amendment, history will inevitably repeat itself. These “gun control” proposals have NOTHING to do with preventing crime, but EVERYTHING to do with CONTROL.

He is not intelligent enough to be conflicted.

I really hope this is true. 9/11 should have always been about a covert response anyway. You don’t need tanks to take out terrorists. Well placed silenced pistols will do the trick, or drones, or knives, or whatever. We need more James Bond and less Westmoreland in the modern era.

As in every enterprise seeking to lower costs and improve output, manual labor is being replaced with automation. Its a logical transition and hardly unprecedented.

The good or bad news, depending on who you are and how you look at it, is that war will become such a boon and bargain we won’t be able to live without it. Especially given how much time we’ve spent at war when it was bankrupting us. What will the world look like when war becomes downright profitable, as it is already becoming? Suffice to say many will be dying to find out? Sick

And maybe it goes without saying here, but have you noticed that they hardly even try to keep up the charade of partisanship anymore? Obama hires, or keeps on Bush guys to keep the war machine rolling. they don’t even bother to pretend that there is any other option out there besides perpetual war and money printing anymore. How stupid is any American who still believes they are a Republican or Democrat, or goes to the polls full of vim and vigor that their vote is going to change things? Hilarious. Hope this isn’t you…
