Martin King’s family: share civil trial case that US govt assassinated Martin

Coretta Scott King: “We have done what we can to reveal the truth, and we now urge you as members of the media, and we call upon elected officials, and other persons of influence to do what they can to share the revelation of this case to the widest possible audience.” – King Family Press Conference, Dec. 9, 1999.

From the King Center on the family’s civil trial that found the US government guilty in Martin’s assassination:

After four weeks of testimony and over 70 witnesses in a civil trial in Memphis, Tennessee, twelve jurors reached a unanimous verdict on December 8, 1999 after about an hour of deliberations that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated as a result of a conspiracy. In a press statement held the following day in Atlanta, Mrs. Coretta Scott King welcomed the verdict, saying , “There is abundant evidence of a major high level conspiracy in the assassination of my husband, Martin Luther King, Jr. And the civil court’s unanimous verdict has validated our belief. I wholeheartedly applaud the verdict of the jury and I feel that justice has been well served in their deliberations. This verdict is not only a great victory for my family, but also a great victory for America. It is a great victory for truth itself. It is important to know that this was a SWIFT verdict, delivered after about an hour of jury deliberation. The jury was clearly convinced by the extensive evidence that was presented during the trial that, in addition to Mr. Jowers, the conspiracy of the Mafia, local, state and federal government agencies, were deeply involved in the assassination of my husband. The jury also affirmed overwhelming evidence that identified someone else, not James Earl Ray, as the shooter, and that Mr. Ray was set up to take the blame. I want to make it clear that my family has no interest in retribution. Instead, our sole concern has been that the full truth of the assassination has been revealed and adjudicated in a court of law… My husband once said, “The moral arc of the universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” To-day, almost 32 years after my husband and the father of my four children was assassinated, I feel that the jury’s verdict clearly affirms this principle. With this faith, we can begin the 21st century and the new millennium with a new spirit of hope and healing.”

The King family stands firmly behind the civil trial verdict reached by twelve jurors in the Memphis, Tennessee courtroom on December 8, 1999.

An excerpt from remarks made by Mr. Dexter Scott King, Chairman, President, and CEO of The King Center, during the December 9, 1999 press conference regarding the verdict that may be used in support of this family decision:

“We can say that because of the evidence and information obtained in Memphis we believe that this case is over. This is a period in the chapter. We constantly hear reports, which trouble me, that this verdict creates more questions than answers. That is totally false. Anyone who sat in on almost four weeks of testimony, with over seventy witnesses, credible witnesses I might add, from several judges to other very credible witnesses, would know that the truth is here.”

The question now is, “What will you do with that?” We as a family have done our part. We have carried this mantle for as long as we can carry it. We know what happened. It is on public record. The transcripts will be available; we will make them available on the Web at some point. Any serious researcher who wants to know what happened can find out.”

The King family feels that the jury’s verdict, the transcripts of the conspiracy trial, and the transcripts of the King family’s press conference following the trial — all of which can be found on The King Center’s website — include everything that that family members have to say about the assassination.

Therefore, the King family shares the conviction that there is nothing more to add to their comments on record and will respectfully decline all further requests for comment.

I followed this event and have read and researched the issues surrounding this trial, and although the burden of proof of guilt is a lesser standard than that of a criminal trail, the evidence and trail of the conspiracy leading to Kings execution and media controlled subsequent cover-up is overwhelming convincing. The the man was assassinated and as with the earlier murder of JFK, the duped red hearing was quickly assinateda well.

    • Eric_Saunders

Uh, James Earl Ray lived in prison for many years. He always denied doing it.

  • Kelly

I think he was killed by the nut who killed him. Why does everything have to be a conspiracy theory? htttp://

    • Kelly: you’ll have the future you work for.

If your claim “I think” reflects your honest best effort as a comment after reading and considering the evidence documented in this article, then you can have a world with government assurances of “nuts” who kill our brightest and best leaders, and that all evidence of government acts to kill challenges to their control (despite an entire known human history of vicious antagonism bent on exactly that type of control) is “everything” having to be a “conspiracy theory,” then buddy: go for it.

Have that world, Kelly! Live it, love it, it’s all yours for the work toward it!

Some of us, though, will define “thinking” a little differently. Some of us will see patterns beyond our government’s assurances of lone “nuts” who destroy challenges to that government’s policies of continued vicious antagonism. Some of us will distinguish the facts and evaluate them rather than cry “conspiracy theory!” and turn away.

      Some of us, Kelly.

Thank you for such poignant opportunity for readers to consider their choice between your future and ours, Kelly. I appreciate the contrast.

Of course, one can change one’s choice while windows of opportunity remain open.

As I’ve written, I don’t know how long this particular window will be open for those who choose love, intellectual integrity, and moral courage.

      Choose carefully.

    • Dutch

Wow, calling everything that disagrees with the things you were indoctrinated to believe a conspiracy theory, is a really unique position. Why didn’t I think of that? You can just instantly be right about everything without ever actually knowing anything. Its genius.

Kudos to you sir, you have triumphed over all the idiots who waste their time with things like thinking, asking questions, examining evidence, etc. I hope if you are ever convicted of a crime that you don’t have any morons like us on the jury…

    • Rich H

I only have so much available time, but I’m 316 pages into the court transcripts and it’s mind blowing to say the least.
You might want to read a little before posting.

Because ignorant sheeple like you blindly follow whatever is said on the 5 o’clock news.

We are supposed to not care that MLK was assassinated …… just like the 20 children in Newtown. As long as the evil agenda is met …..who cares what you know or think? What are YOU going to do about it?

So here is some more truthiness ….. The current flu crisis (which is only a crisis in NY), is being touted as the reason to inject you with vaccines made from insect virus.

Protein Sciences Corp. won U.S. regulatory approval on Jan. 16 for a vaccine that can be produced faster than traditional immunizations. The shot, called FluBlok, is produced in less than two months by inserting
flu genes into an insect virus and growing the active protein for the immunization.

Flu vaccines generate $2.4 billion in sales annually worldwide, according to a November report from GlobalData, a London-based business intelligence provider. The market may reach $3 billion in the next
decade with the help of an expanding elderly population and the new four-strain vaccines, GlobalData said.

If you prefer dog…..they have something for you too……

It looks like human studies have not been conducted (or can be found) on insect/dog recombinant DNA vaccines …. but Prince Charles is ready to roll up his sleeve for it…..Royalty Embraces Population Study, Insect Based Vaccine?,….

      • gozounlimited

Something fishhhhhy with CDC flu report. I contacted Fresno County, San Fransisco County, Madera County, Merced County, Santa Cruz County….. and none of them have reported influenza to the state or CDC regarding widespread activity. There is little to none. IN REALITY!

But again why should we care as long as billions can be made on fear and lies.

        • gozounlimited

Found a study on Flublok ….. but unfortunately ….. Limitations of the study of 300 people, such as early termination leading to small numbers of participants
analyzed, technical problems with measurement leading to unreliable or uninterpretable data, makes this study a big laugh-out-loud piece of crap….but good enough for the FDA ….. see here…..

          • gozounlimited

This man believes we are in the midst of a coup in the US… ….. That we are being provoked to act out by our corporate/government so that they can put us down spiritually, mentally and physically. What do you think?

          • gozounlimited

It just dawned on me …. (a regular occurrence) …. that Protein Sciences Corp.just finished their third stage clinical trial …. the either is telling me NY was included…..have no actual evidence. coenseeaddda??????????

  • Christopher Paul Condon

What was the motive behind his assassination?

    • According to Coretta and Martin’s friend/attorney, the motive was to stop Martin from leading the Poor People’s Campaign to occupy Washington DC until the Vietnam War was ended and those resources redirected to end domestic and global poverty.

  • Gregory Taylor

Yeah, I remember seeing this in all the broadcast and print media in 1999. The Media is the government and they show you what they want you to see.

  • Dray

My grandfather was a prison guard at Brushy Mtn and knew Ray for years. Claimed he never did it and he believed him. um unfortunately at that time there was a white supremacist movement inside the prison system and Ray could have been a hero of sorts if he had so desired. Instead he lived his life proclaiming his innocence.
