Why Are We Fighting On the Same Side with Al Qaeda?

The U.S. Is On the Same Side as Al Qaeda In Syria

Reuters notes that the leader of Al Qaeda – Ayman al-Zawahri – is backing the Syrian rebels, and asking his followers to fight the Syrian government.

Some of the main Al Qaeda fighters who overthrew Gadaffi – and now appear to be in control of Libya – are already helping the Syrian rebels.

This is curious, given that the U.S. is considering military options for ousting the Syrian government, American allies Britain and Qatar allegedly already have foreign troops inside Syria, and the U.S. has been planning regime change in Syria for over 50 years.

Mainstream reports also state that the U.S. and its allies are backing Iranian terrorists.

I thought Al Qaeda was America’s mortal enemy. Why are we backing terrorists?

You’re ascribing way too much power and influence to Al Qaeda. Middle East politics has strange ties and bedfellows depending on circumstances. Unseating Bashar is more about being pro-Israeli than anything else, putting a crimp in Hezbollah and Hamas.

Would you say that Al Qaeda is pro-Israel? I didn’t think so.

Duh!! Al Qaeda was our invention in Afghanistan. It is still our asset. The whole War on Terror is a fraud.

You’ve always backed terrorists; why do you think that Luis Posada Carriles was set free despite bombing a Venezuelan airplane? Why do you think that the Contra on the Honduras border, despite being unable to make any progress in Nicaragua and despite maiming, torturing and killing civilians across the border region, got described by President Ronnie as the moral equivalent of your founding fathers? The US operates on one principle and one principle only, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Thus John Bolton, Tom Ridge etc can be well-paid by Iranian exiles to support the MEK, which is on the FBIs list of proscribed terrorist organizations, because no-one is going to take any action against them for supporting terrorism. When will you get to grips with the idea that the ‘War on Terror’ is just a big scam, out of which the usual suspects are making a lot of money from Halliburton, Gruman Northrop, Big Oil etc. War is just business to the US and has been since 1898 when you decided to keep the Philippines and borrowed ideas like water-boarding and concentration camps from the Spanish to terrorize the Filipinos and enforce your rule – wake up and smell the coffee!

Excellent. But you forgot the overthrow of the government of Hawaii in 1893.
