New Website

We’re in the process of redesigning the site. Phase 1 – switching over to WordPress, and importing old posts – has been completed. Next,we’ll tweak the layout. Comments and suggestions about the design would be appreciated (The design is not ours, but was generously created gratis).

The old georgewashington2.blogspot.com address will also no longer be used, and the rss feeds will change to the main site: http://www.WashingtonsBlog.com.

Please use http://www.WashingtonsBlog.com for everything – it’s easier to say and to remember – instead of http://georgewashington2.blogspot.com.

Please bear with us … it’s a work in progress!

On a related note, I can’t figure out how to embed youtube videos in WordPress. Any help would be appreciated.

Just testing; I was about to ask again if you might have a registration capability; half the time I can’t make my OpenID work. Best luck on the site development.

Good work getting it moved over…..it is not easy. Your web person should check out Artisteer.com for a great program that makes custom themes for WordPress and more. I use it in my website design and its a great time saver over hand coding. Best of luck.

To embed YouTube videos in a WordPress blog, just above your text box are the selections “visual” and “HTML.” Click on HTML and just paste in the code that you have copied from the YouTube video (“copy embed HTML”).

As far as WordPress themes (appearance), I use the Suffusion theme on my website, which has tons of different options. To get a new theme, just click on “Appearance” on the left side of your WP dashboard, and then click “Install Themes,” and then type “Suffusion” in the search box and click to install. For info, check out the Suffusion theme website: http://aquoid.com/news/themes/suffusion/

Embedding is simple. On the Youtube video you want to share, click on the “Share” button below it.
That opens up and in the bottom left corner, click on the “Embed” button. Copy the code in it and paste it into the html editor of your post.

Test, I have not been able to comment or email you since I found your blog.
    Hopefully, this will work.

Sharing youtube vids in WP is super simple.

    Method one:
Simply post the link on a line of its own, and WP will do the rest

    Method two:
Use Viper’s Video Quicktags plugin, and then place the youtube link in the appropriate tags. This also works for lots of other video sites, and also doesn’t generate errors.

I’m sorry you made the change in websites, the download takes much longer (dialup) and never seems to stop downloading. Three steps backward for me.
