The Egyptian Revolution Shows that the Us-Versus-Them Narrative of the War on Terror is False

While many in the U.S. have tried to paint most Muslims as extremists, and the “War on Terror” as being a black-and-white war of good guys versus bad browned-skinned people, the Egyptian revolution shows that the reality is very different.

As Democracy Now producer Sharif Kouddous tweets, moderate Muslims are drowning out members of the Muslim Brotherhood:

Muslim Brotherhood chanting Allah Akbar. Crowd stopped them chanting louder: Muslim, Christian, we’re all Egyptian.

Similarly, an editorial in the Guardian states:

Tell everyone: Egypt’s revolution is sweet and peaceful.

No one wants the Muslim Brotherhood to take over, no one wants violence – just elections and a new constitution

And as Sana Saleem tweets, Muslims and Christians are working together to replace their tyrannical leader:

While Muslim Protestors prayed today, Christian Egyptians formed human chains to protect them. Solidarity, strength and co-existence.

Indeed, interviews with Egyptian protesters show that they just want equality and freedom … like we do. Despite their accents and appearance, they are really not that different from us.

No wonder even former U.S. National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski told the Senate that the war on terror is “a mythical historical narrative”.

Your comment about Egypt is too simplistic.

1- Egypt elected mostly fanatic parliment. If the majority Muslims in Egypt don’t like the fanatics as you are saying they would have selected mostly Muslim secularists.
2- When the Egyptian public protested in the streets, the Egyptian army did not fire on them. But, after the fanatic Muslims burned a church, the Christian Egyptian were under the impression that they are citizens, and free to protest in the street too; except the Army (100% Muslim leaders), opened fire and ran over the civilian like ants.
3- The Christians in egypt represent 10% of the population. They sent 117 athlets to the olympic games in London, and failed to have even one single Christian among them.

So again:Your comment is taking semi-factual data without explanation of who or why?

First, the American people in general are ignorant when it comes to politics or religion. Look at that Azz Hole who went into the Sikh temple killing rag-heads. There are rag-heads who are foaming at the mouth Muslims, and there are rag-head cow-worshipping Hindus. The point is most Americans are ignorant even the ones who read politics, who are minorities.

Christianity in the US has never been organized as us Christians against them Jews or Muslims. On the other hand, both Muslims and Jews have been organized as us against them.

Finally, during the Reagan “silent majority” campaign, he tricked the voters into voting for him because he was a “CHRISTIAN”, AND HE WAS GOING TO BRING BACK PRAYERS IN SCHOOLS. Of course he never went to church, and was simply playing politics with simple minded ignorant population. The organization of evangelicals, and right wing politicians, however, continued to capitalize on the resurgence of “Christian” identity. The Israeli Zionist lobby, who hate the Christians, managed to usurp the movement. Now American Christianity means 1- supporting Israel in a fascist way, 2- opposing Abortion in a militant way. These ignorant Christians do not represent Christianity. But, like every other thing in America, everything is manipulated, and has hidden agenda, and the public at large are lied to routinely by their leaders. The concept of free press is a myth. The public at large are simply a bunch of robots that response only to the main-stream press. They have been programmed to dismiss conspiracies by the conspirators.
